Introducing: Stone Power
America's Turbine Company
The US needs 1.5 terawatts of new power by 2035.
AI has scaled beyond our ability to build power and the existing power supply chain is the bottleneck.
The future demands a new kind of hardware company, building a new kind of Turbine.
Introducing: Stone Power
I’ve been building this company in stealth for almost a year now. I used to run a textile factory in North Carolina, and my electricity bill was almost 30% of my COG’s (cost of goods sold). Then I’d go to my customers and I was getting undercut by China/India/Malaysia by 5-15%. I looked for any way to do onsite power generation, we needed power ‘too cheap to meter’. The 60’s promised us that with nuclear power revolution but it fell flat. I wanted to do something about it.
Fast forward a few years and a bunch of hardware delivered at various tech companies and I pieced together my shot. The turbine industry changed drastically over the last 12 months and it moved right out from under the incumbents. Right into Stone’s hands
The Short Term Problem
@Gaurab’s post below accurately describes one of the reasons natural gas turbines will be slow.
GPU production is scaling faster than power generation.
Within a few years, we’re going to have GPU’s sitting idle because we can’t energize them fast enough. However, you can buy a natural gas turbine before 2030 and it’s from my company: Stone Power. WE will have gigawatts of energy delivered before 2030.
At Stone Power we design, fabricate, and deploy turbines, and we’re doing it with an AI stack built specifically for hardware.
We are America’s Turbine company. We are building power generation turbines for the $200B+ market in 2026, and we expect it to triple by the early 2030s.
Stone’s design decisions, manufacturing technologies, and maintenance technology makes these turbines a fraction of the cost, and much faster to market.
We will build our own factories, we will deliver our own natural gas, steam, and advanced turbines.
The AI Advantage
We are a hardware company that happens to be building with AI, not the other way around. We will make money on our hardware, and we are all mechanical and electrical engineers who love to build. The agentic toolset we’re building can 100x any hardware engineer, but the toolset only matters because the hardware does.
Waymo is training the world’s best driver. Stone is training the world’s best hardware engineer.
As intelligence proliferates, design will be cheaper, standardization is not the future, specialty is. We are building the engineer who can tweak any design to be optimized for any customer. Then the factory makes it into atoms.
When building the world’s best hardware engineer, turbomachinery and turbine design is the right place to start. The physics has been studied for 120 years, which means there’s enough ground truth to train against, but the trade space across vibration, mechanics, fluids, combustion, and thermodynamics is brutal enough that no human engineer can fully optimize it.
Modern simulation closes most of the gap to physical test, and what’s left is exactly the kind of global optimization problem AI is built to solve.
As a bonus, turbines are the most beautiful machines ever built, and we love working on them.
Tech Tree
Natural gas turbines are the first leaf on a multi-decade tech tree. The same physics kernel, the same factory, and the same engineer can deliver nuclear turbines, geothermal turbines, heat recovery systems, and propulsion engines. Stone’s manufacturing and AI design stack makes every node on that tree faster and cheaper to reach.
This is how we succeed through the next decades, nat gas is how we get going, nuclear (on and off planet) is how we become a generational company for decades to come.
Our First Product
Our first product is a large natural gas turbine optimized for total power volume to market. From first principles, we identified the size and architecture that maximizes gigawatts to the grid while designing around the supply chain failures crippling the OEMs.
The mistake everyone else is making, both the incumbents and the startups, is getting nerdsniped into simple cycle efficiency and locally optimizing components without manufacturing in mind. Stone optimizes at the system level. We simplify radically; we deliver years faster.
On the way to training the world’s best hardware engineer, Stone needs to make 1000’s of turbines and other hardware (make $B’s in revenue) to gather manufacturing data, testing data, materials data, service data, and deployment data at sufficient scale to inform the making of 100’s of custom designs.
The data is only half the moat, the ability to make our designs into atoms rapidly closes the loop: we are both Nvidia and TSMC. We are both the AI design company, and the manufacturer.
Where we are now
Stone has raised a preseed from Boost VC and Forward Deployed VC. We are growing rapidly to meet our customers’ demand.
Thank you to Brayton Williams, Erik Bruckner, and many others for the help getting this idea off the ground.
Stone’s founding team has decades of experience delivering power turbines, and even more in space and defense hardware. Every founding employee has shipped hardware at scale, and we keep doing it for the love of the game. We know how to go from 0 to 1 and 1 to N, because we’ve actually done it.
Beware the larpers, the designers who think “small and modular” means manufacturable, or that 3D printing is the answer. They’ve never felt the quality control pain of those decisions on a real production line. We have.
We are building in Hawthorne CA. Reach out to build@stonepower.us if you want to make a lot of hardware with us.
What Building with Stone Enables
There are dozens of companies working hard to unlock energy abundance through splitting the atom. Few of them have figured out how to take their heat energy and convert it to electrical power, none at scale.
That is our mission at Stone.
Turbines are harder than reactors. Turbines are harder than rocket engines. We will deliver natural gas turbines now, to build the AI design stack and the world’s best turbine factory. Then use it to enable these Nuclear companies to deliver the new atomic age.
Stone Power knows nuclear energy is the future, and 100% of that energy runs through a turbine. Turbines are built with Stone.
